Queen and Adam Lambert: Brian May gives a Freddie Mercury Live Aid backstage comparison | Music | Entertainment

Last month, Queen and Adam Lambert toured Australia as part of the Oceania leg of their Rhapsody world tour. The trio even gave their Sydney stage for charity gig Fire Fight Australia the following night, where they performed the iconic Live Aid set. Now Brian May has shared how being backstage at the wildfire relief concert was like being with Queen and Freddie Mercury in 1985.
May posted on Instagram: “Our appearance at the historic Fire Fight benefit concert in Sydney is a memory for us all to treasure.
“Like Live Aid (on which we based our set), the atmosphere backstage was notably lacking in egos – a feeling of ‘Let’s do our Bit’ pervaded.
“And out front – and on stage – the most incredible energy – a celebration of defiance and unity.
“Never to be forgotten. Watch our contribution on YouTube. Bri.”

The Live Aid six-song set consisted of Bohemian Rhapsody, Radio Ga Ga, Hammer To Fall, Crazy Little Thing Called Love, We Will Rock You and We Are The Champions.
On performing at the benefit concert, Brian May said: “We’re very happy to be able to do our bit to help Australia to fight back against the terrible fires.
“This is Australia’s pain but it’s Humanity’s problem. My heart has broken seeing the plight of the animals.
“I hope the concert will help them too. We all need this tragedy to never happen again.”
However, the upcoming concert in Paris, France on May 26, has been postponed due to coronavirus.
In a statement, QueenOnline.com wrote: “Unfortunately, our show in Paris has had to be postponed following a government decree in France to cancel all indoor events over 5000 capacity in France until 31st May in an effort to contain the spread of Coronavirus.
“We are currently working with the promoter to try to reschedule the date. We will make a further announcement at the earliest opportunity.
“Please keep hold of your tickets, which would be valid for the new date. Ticket holders will be advised on reimbursement procedure, if required, in due course.”
Interestingly, a show in Bologna two days prior to the now postponed French concert is still going ahead despite there being more cases of coronavirus in Italy.
Meanwhile, Queen and Adam Lambert are still scheduled to perform 14 dates in the UK this coming June.
The band will play London’s O2 across 10 nights.
While also playing twice apiece at Manchester Arena and Arena Birmingham.
