Spurs last won a trophy in 2008 when they beat Chelsea in the League Cup final.

But if they fail to win a trophy with Mourinho and Kane on the same side then Wright fears the worst.

He added: “If nothing happens and Harry Kane decides to leave then you have you have to say ‘well, he’s under Mourinho, nothing has changed’. He wants to win medals,” added Wright.

“You can’t have that kind of ability, that kind of goalscorer who is able to win matches, and not win anything. You can’t.”

When Kane was asked about staying at Spurs for his entire career, he said: “It’s a good question.
