Manchester United are likely to sell Paul Pogba at the end of the season – and his potential replacement has already been identified. Pogba has endured an injury-hit campaign that has seen him take to the pitch just eight times in all competitions. He is approaching the final year of his contract at Old Trafford, with Real Madrid and Juventus eyeing his signature.

Manchester United have an option to extend Pogba’s contract for an additional season but speculation over his future has been raging since he opened the exit door last summer when he said “it could be a good time to have a new challenge somewhere else.”

The World Cup winner’s agent Mino Raiola has also touted his client’s possible availability by admitting “we’ll see what happens” after claiming there was interest before the 2019/20 campaign.

According to Sport, the Red Devils have become frustrated with Raiola and are preparing to sign a new midfielder in case they receive an acceptable offer for Pogba.

And it is claimed Ajax ace Donny van de Beek has emerged as the ideal replacement for Pogba in the eyes of the club’s technical leaders.

Sport claim Newcastle and Everton are also interested in Van de Beek.

Pogba has been advised to clear up his future instead of allowing Raiola to discuss the situation in the press.

Red Devils legend Rio Ferdinand told The Beautiful Game: “I’m honest about Paul and I love Paul, because he’s a great kid. I’ve known him since he was a young boy and I still chat to him now.

“But the only problem I have with Paul is he should chat, instead of his agent chatting. If he did that there would be more clarity on the whole situation.

“I spoke to him about all that type of stuff but Paul’s his own man and he’s going to deal with it his own way, I respect that, that’s fine. So that’s the only thing I’d say.”
