Manchester United legend Gary Neville yesterday accused Carlos Tevez of downing tools during his spell at Old Trafford. And, now, the Argentina international’s agent has hit back. Kia Joorabchian ensured the striker leave United for Manchester City in controversial circumstances back in 2009.
Manchester United hero Neville recently suggested that Tevez’s attitude in his second season at Old Trafford wasn’t as good as in his debut campaign.
“What annoyed me about Tevez was that he downed tools in his second season,” said the Sky Sports pundit.
“I felt disappointed that, as a professional, he didn’t act the right way.”
Tevez was impressive in his first season at United, scoring 19 goals alongside Cristiano Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney as the club won a Premier League and Champions League double.
But he struggled in his second campaign, falling behind Dimitar Berbatov in the Old Trafford pecking order.
Tevez then moved to Manchester City in 2009 where he’d go on to win the FA Cup and Premier League title.

And his agent, Joorabchian, has now hit back at Neville’s claims.
He said: “Absolutely not, he was desperate to play.
“He scored 15 goals with seven assists, his record was superb. Every time, he was available for every game bar the three he missed through injury.
“I think the person’s professionalism to be questioned is Gary Neville because he didn’t do his homework on Carlos’ career or as a reporter to say why Tevez wasn’t [professional].
“He never made any phone calls, he never asked the question of me or anyone to know what has happened. He just makes comments time and time again.

“I went to United for two years on loan, and in the final year Ferguson told me that they were going to buy me permanently.
“We got to the Champions league final in Rome and I didn’t have any contract on the table, even though they’d spent the whole year telling me that.
“So I went to City and they complained about it but I never had the option of signing for United so I was free.”
Tevez is still going strong with Boca Juniors in Argentina.
He was linked with a stunning return to United in the January transfer window at a time where Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was hunting a new striker.
However, the Red Devils never had any interest in bringing him back and ended up swooping for Odion Ighalo on loan instead.
