Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has spoken out ahead of his side’s Premier League clash with Liverpool on Sunday. The Red Devils lock horns with their Merseyside rivals looking to open up a six-point lead at the top of the table. They’re underdogs for the match at Anfield – but are unbeaten in their last 11 matches in the competition.
United were written off by many at the start of the campaign after losing to Crystal Palace, Tottenham and Arsenal.
But the Red Devils have rediscovered their mojo of late, winning eight of their last 11 Premier League matches.
Liverpool on Sunday is the big one, however.
United’s 1-0 win over Burnley in midweek saw them climb above the Reds to sit top of the table, something that’s not happened at this stage of the campaign since Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement.
And Solskjaer has revealed he’s looking forward to the match.

Solskjaer confirmed Brandon Williams and Phil Jones were out of the match.
But he did suggest Anthony Martial could be fit, with the France international limping out of the Burnley win late on.
“I’m going to give everyone another day,” he said.
“Anthony is not out of it, the only ones certainly out are Brandon [Williams] and Phil Jones, they’re the two that definitely can’t make the game.
“A couple of others are maybe doubts. We’re hoping, fingers crossed.”
Solskjaer has also explained he’s talked with United players about their goal celebrations.
Players have been urged to huddle together after scoring, with the FA determined to prevent a rise in coronavirus cases.
And he’s implored his team to listen to the rules and regulations, saying: “I think we all know the situation we are in and to keep to the guidelines and rules.
“I can’t promise anything, but if the players can control themselves that is the best now. Then again football is about football and instant moments.
“I can’t say anything but we have spoken about it and our duties. We are role models, we will do our best, let’s hope we get one!”
In a separate interview, that broke just before the press conference, Solskjaer refused to rule out giving Amad Diallo his debut.
“I do not rule out that he [Diallo] is in the squad for the Liverpool match,” he said.
“Things can happen. You see how fast things happen over here in England. Suddenly, a team has six players out with the corona. So you do not know.
“I do not want to put any timeframe on it [Diallo’s debut], but he is at least in the [first-team] group, trains with us and can be selected in the squad.
“We are lucky that we aren’t struggling with injuries and we have a squad who’s fit and ready, it’s a sign that things are going well too. They [United players] bite their teeth together and overlook minor injuries so that they are ready anyway.”
