United needed 120 minutes to get past West Ham on Tuesday, Scott McTominay’s strike in the first period of extra time eventually separating the sides.
And Maguire admitted extra minutes were “not ideal” given the congested fixture list it was worth it to be in the hat for the next round.
No outfield player has played more minutes than the United skipper this season with Maguire’s onfield time breaking the 3,000-minute barrier, nearly five and a half hours more than the next busiest, teammate Aaron Wan-Bissaka on 2,723.
