Tottenham next manager: Ajax boss Erik ten Hag one of five names on Daniel Levy shortlist | Football | Sport

Daniel Levy is said to have up to five names on his current shortlist, as he eyes a replacement for Jose Mourinho. The Spurs chairman is set to bide his time before identifying the Portuguese’s successor and has given himself a safety blanket with the temporary appointment of Ryan Mason.
The 29-year-old has made it clear he is not thinking about landing the role on a full-time basis and is instead focused on helping the club he loves finish the season strongly.
But behind the scenes, Levy and the Tottenham hierarchy are already beginning to size up a host of potential options.
One of those is of course Julian Nagelsmann, who right now is among the most attractive options in world football for any club.
Spurs will have to battle Bayern Munich for his services though, with the European champions set to pursue the RB Leipzig boss at the end of the season.
JUST IN: Jose Mourinho and Daniel Levy’s ‘private argument’ that led to Tottenham sacking
Tottenham know all about Ten Hag following their closely-contested Champions League semi-final against his Ajax side in 2019.
He is also understood to be on the radar of Bayern if they are unable to prise Nagelsmann away from Leipzig.
Meanwhile, Potter has faced both praise and criticism this season with Brighton.
His possession-based style has caught the eye but the Seagulls’ attractive style of football has often failed to translate into results.
But there is a feeling that should Potter earn a bigger job – with respect to Brighton – who could reach the next level.
Finally, Massimiliano Allegri’s availability makes him an option that cannot be ignored.
Unlikely to others, Allegri would not involve a sizeable compensation.
The Italian won 10 trophies during his time with Juventus including five Serie A titles and his track record speaks for itself.
Tottenham passed on the chance to appoint Allegri following the sacking of Mauricio Pochettino though and it’s unclear whether things will be different this time around.
