The former Arsenal striker believes that Manchester United should start up a women’s team to encourage equality in the sport.
Majority of football clubs in the Football League have got a women’s side which plays under the banner of the club.
However, one of the Premier League largest teams has yet to show its support by offering the opposite gender a way into the game.
“I can’t understand how Man United, being Man United, haven’t got a women’s team,” Wright told Sky Sports’ the Debate.
“It’s important because it’s Manchester United.
“Is it that they can’t get a team together? No way.
“It’s happening and Manchester United are one of the biggest clubs in the world and there’s other teams that have got women’s football teams so why haven’t they?
“Maybe Man United might get a team going as well.”
Fellow pundit Emma Hayes, who manages Chelsea’s women’s team, thinks it is only a matter of time before United put a side together.
“I think it is inevitable,” she said.
“You see the other top teams like Barcelona, Real Madrid, Juventus have all invested in it.
“I think United will make a team which will compete.”
