Arsenal have reportedly submitted a fresh bid for Lyon’s Houssem Aouar, according to fresh developments in France. The midfield maestro was a target for Mikel Arteta last summer as the Gunners saw two bids rejected by the Ligue 1 club, who continued to hold firm during negotiations before keeping the player.
Yet it now appears Arsenal have reignited their interest as Edu looks to add some additional quality to the squad.
Aouar was believed to be Arteta’s preference over Thomas Partey last year before Arsenal signed the Ghanaian on deadline day.
Now French outlet Le10 Sport claim the Gunners have submitted an offer for Aouar and talks are ‘progressing well’.
The fresh twist comes just hours after Aouar released a statement, in which he diffused rumours that claimed he missed Lyon’s training camp on Monday in attempt to force through a transfer.

Arsenal are already showing huge ambition in the transfer market this summer.
The Gunners have seen two bids of up to £45million rebuffed for Brighton’s Ben White.
They are expected to seal the deal at close to £50m once Euro 2020 is complete.
Meanwhile, Sassuolo claim they have received a bid from Arsenal for Manuel Locatelli.
The Italian powerhouse was excellent in the Azzurri’s first two matches in Group A at the tournament as he netted twice against Switzerland.
Juventus and Borussia Dortmund are also interest in Locatelli though.
Elsewhere, Benfica left-back Nuno Tavares is currently in quarantine as he looks to put the finishing touches on his move to north London.
Sheffield United and England goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale is also a target for the Gunners, although like White, no bid is expected until after Euro 2020.
