Lewis Hamilton has added fuel to the fire regarding his rivalry with Max Verstappen, which was kicked up a notch after their dramatic collision on the opening lap of the British Grand Prix. To the surprise of many, the Brit claimed in his most recent press conference that he has ‘no regrets’ over his on-track move and that he ‘would do the same again’.

In a furious opening exchange at Silverstone, Hamilton stuck a wheel up the inside of Verstappen’s car going into Copse on the opening lap.

Although Hamilton appeared to be all over the Dutchman, the seven-time champion was not level when their wheels collided, leaving him penalised for the accident.

Red Bull were left furious, however, when Hamilton was given a meagre 10-second penalty, while Verstappen’s race had been ended after careering into the tyre wall at high speed.

Their misery was compounded when Hamilton staged a dramatic comeback to seal a crucial victory, cutting Verstappen’s lead at the top of the drivers’ standings.

After the race, a wounded Verstappen took to social media, branding his rival’s celebrations as ‘disrespectful and unsportsmanlike’.

With no love lost between the pair to begin with, the dramatic incident at Silverstone seems to have taken the rivalry to another level.

In case that wasn’t enough, the comments made by both parties in the aftermath, including Hamilton’s latest claims, have not done much to simmer the tensions – quite the opposite, in fact.
