Brown, 13, scored a brilliant 56.47 in the skateboarding final marking Britain’s first ever skateboarding medal. The skateboarder is Britain’s youngest ever athlete – breaking the previous record set by Margery Hinton in 1928.
Hinton was 13 years and 44 days when she swam at the Amsterdam Games of 1928, while Brown is 13 years and 23 days.
Winning a gold would have made Brown the youngest-ever Olympic gold medalist, a title currently still debated by sports fans.
However, Brown is three years older than the youngest winner of any medal – a title belonging to Dimitrios Loundras, a Greek who at age 10 won a bronze medal in team gymnastics in 1896.
Sky Brown came in third behind two Japanese skaters with Sakura Yosozumi taking the gold medal while 12 year old Kokona Hiraki took silver.

Ms Yosozumi finished with a whopping score of 60.09 and Ms Hiraki came close behind with 59.04.
At first, Brown didn’t look to be in medal scoring position, falling in her first two runs of the final.
“I didn’t think about the scores. But I am really stoked on that score. Very stoked.”
Brown’s historic medal is even more remarkable considering the young skater only recently recovered from a horrific injury last year.
Posting a video clip of the fall on her Instagram account, which saw Brown fracture her skull and break several bones, she said: “I’m excited to come back even stronger and even tougher.
“My heart wants to go so hard right now.”
