Aston Villa skipper Jack Grealish has signed a contract with Manchester City ahead of his record-breaking move to the Etihad Stadium, according to reports. The 25-year-old is poised to become the most expensive English player of all time upon joining the newly-crowned Premier League champions for a fee in the region of £100million.
The proposed move is now only subject to a medical after Grealish penned a five-year deal with City on Wednesday, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
It is claimed that the relevant paperwork has also been signed at club level, with Villa agreeing a nine-figure fee for their prized asset.
Grealish is scheduled to undergo his medical and thrash out the formalities on Thursday morning, after which point his move will be complete.
The England man was reportedly offered a new and improved contract at Villa, who have been desperate to keep hold of their star man.
However, it seems as though he has ultimately decided to go in search of a new challenge under the guidance of Pep Guardiola at City.

Grealish established himself as one of the Premier League’s most feared attackers during his time with Villa, the club he joined as a six-year-old.
He was second in the division for both chances created and chances created from open play last season, as well as drawing more fouls than any other player.
The Birmingham native went on to impress on the international stage with England at Euro 2020 and was introduced as a substitute during the final against Italy.
The role that Grealish will play at City is yet to become clear, but it has been suggested that Guardiola will look to rotate him with Ilkay Gundogan in central midfield.

His move is expected to see Villa register their interest in Norwich City’s Todd Cantwell, who has been touted as a possible replacement.
The 23-year-old has entered into the final year of his contract but the Canaries retain the option to extend his deal by another 12 months.
Grealish will become City’s first signing of the summer transfer window upon the completion of his medical on Thursday.
Tottenham wantaway Harry Kane is also believed to be on the club’s radar ahead of the new campaign.

The England captain has not trained with Spurs this week as he looks to force through a move away from north London.
He reportedly believes that he had a ‘gentleman’s agreement’ with chairman Daniel Levy that meant he could leave the club this summer.
However, the controversial 59-year-old is said to be hell-bent on keeping Kane, who remains under contract until the summer of 2024.
It has been claimed that City have already seen a bid in the region of £100m rejected by Spurs for his services.
