Chelsea are considering swooping for a replacement for Kepa Arrizabalaga. Express Sport takes a look at potential signings the Blues could make in the summer transfer window.
Arrizabalaga, who became the most expensive goalkeeper in football when he moved to Stamford Bridge in 2018, has the worst save percentage of any Premier League regular goalkeeper.
Frank Lampard took action by dropping the 25-year-old for last weekend’s draw at Leicester City, with Willy Caballero stepping up from the bench.
Caballero is unlikely to be a long-term option, with Lampard instructing his scouts to look for replacements.
Express Sport takes a look at four goalkeepers linked with a summer switch to Chelsea.
Nick Pope
The Burnley goalkeeper has kept nine clean sheets in 25 games but his save percentage is marginally better than Arrizabalaga’s.
Pope has a long-term contract at Turf Moor but Lampard is a fan.
Express Sport understands he is at the top of the Chelsea manager’s wishlist.
Andre Onana
The Ajax goalkeeper is hot on a move to the Premier League, according to the Daily Mail.
The 23-year-old played a major role in the Amsterdam-based club’s run to last season’s Champions League while he was nominated for best goalkeeper at the 2019 Ballon d’Or.
Tottenham have also been linked with the Cameroon international.
Mike Maignan
Eurosport, however, claim the Lille goalkeeper is high on Chelsea’s target list.
Maignan has reportedly been tracked by Blues scouts for a number of months amid the search for a new stopper.
The 24-year-old has kept nine clean sheets in 24 Ligue 1 games but conceded 14 goals in six Champions League games, including four against Chelsea.
Vicente Guaita
Meanwhile, AS claim Chelsea submitted an enquiry for the Crystal Palace goalkeeper last month.
Christophe Lollichon reportedly got in touch with Guaita’s representatives to enquire about his situation and financial demands ahead of a potential transfer.
An error in last weekend’s defeat to Sheffield United is likely to have concerned Blues bosses.
