This season, David De Gea and Dean Henderson have been a tale of two different goalkeepers. The former has struggled at Manchester United, while Henderson has flourished during a second successive loan spell at Chris Wilder’s Sheffield United. And it seems that, with De Gea primed to stay, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer now has a big problem on his hands that needs solving.
Speaking earlier in the week, De Gea moved to shut down talk of a potential move away from Manchester United.
The Spain international only signed a new contract back in September but, after enduring an inconsistent campaign, talk of a move away had started to arise.
Real Madrid have been inevitably linked, despite Los Blancos seeing Thibaut Courtois improved after a miserable first season at the Bernabeu.
And so too have PSG and Juventus, with question marks still lingering over whether Keylor Navas and Wojciech Szczesny.
But De Gea was firm. He said: “Just to be a part of this club is amazing. So imagine, 10 years, it’s like a dream.
“It’s great to play games with this club, so I hope I can be here more years, many years.”

Now, Solskjaer has a problem to solve.
The grass isn’t always greener. De Gea has, for the most part, been astonishing throughout his time at the club. A true heir to the likes of Edwin van der Sar and Peter Schmeichel.
He’s also a leader at the club, a throwback to sunnier skies during Sir Alex Ferguson’s reign.
But Henderson’s emergence can’t be ignored.
United simply can’t throw away a rising star in the hope than an older one will sparkle and shine again.
If Henderson isn’t guaranteed regular football, he could even leave Old Trafford altogether.
Chelsea, certainly, would welcome him with open arms.
United could use one for the cups, and one for the Premier League.
But with De Gea the club’s highest-earner, it wouldn’t exactly send out a great message. It would also suggest that Henderson doesn’t have the wholesome backing he requires.
So Solskjaer must get this solution right.
