Sebastian Vettel will leave Ferrari at the end of the season as he weighs up his future in F1 altogether. His replacement is expected to be confirmed as McLaren star Carlos Sainz by the end of the week.

In turn, Daniel Ricciardo will end his two-year stay with Renault to link up with McLaren.

Ferrari had many options when moving forward with finding a long-term successor for Vettel.

And the BBC claim they opted to copy Mercedes’ tried-and-tested formula in which Sainz was the perfect fit.

Lewis Hamilton is the main man at the Silver Arrows and all efforts are focussed on helping him to eclipse Michael Schumacher’s record seven world titles.

Valtteri Bottas has provided excellent support as a wingman and also brings home a solid amount of points which saw him finish second in the Drivers’ Championship last year.

The balance of the team is managed superbly by Toto Wolff as Bottas never seems to complain about playing second fiddle to Hamilton.

Ferrari are hoping to set up a similar format as they look to make Charles Leclerc their star for many years to come.

The 22-year-old was engaged in a power struggle with Vettel last season as he continuously out-performed the German.

This year the pair will be given an even keel when the season gets underway, which is expected to be in July.

However, the French team are said to also be considering a shock return for Fernando Alonso.

The 38-year-old semi-retired from F1 last year but has continuously flirted with making a comeback should the right offer be tabled.
