Michael Bisping fires back at Conor McGregor for ‘one-eyed’ comment in GOAT rant | UFC | Sport

Michael Bisping has hit back at Conor McGregor for branding him a “one-eyed fighter. Last weekend, McGregor revealed his list of the greatest mixed martial artists of all time.

Top of that list was former UFC middleweight king Anderson Silva, with McGregor, Georges St-Pierre and Jon Jones all following ‘The Spider’.

McGregor’s decision to rank himself ahead of St-Pierre – a former two-division champion with multiple title defences to his name – perplexed many.

The Irishman quickly explained his decision to rank ‘GSP’ in third place, ‘ is in at 3. Much less array of finishes but champion status in 2. He is far behind though.

“Reasons = Left 170 after much damage taken+questionable decision. Never re-engaged 170lb successors.

‘The Count’ insists he bears no will to McGregor, saying: “He’s a legend of the game for sure.

“Not throwing any digs. Most exciting fighter in the game. Still, I read that and I had to respond.”

Despite holding a victory over the man many believe to be the greatest of all time, Bisping doesn’t care about being included in the conversation.

“No designs on being a GOAT,” the 40-year-old added. “Just a guy that fought his ass off trying to look after his family. That’ll do me and is more than enough in terms of legacy.”

Bisping, Britain’s first UFC champion, retired from mixed martial arts in May 2018 following consecutive losses to St-Pierre and Kelvin Gastelum.

The Hall-of-Famer recently reflected on his career in an interview with the Daily Star, saying: “I’m very proud of what I achieved. I’m proud of what I did for UK mixed martial arts, my family and for myself.

“I achieved everything I ever could’ve done. What more could I have done? Yeah I could’ve won a few more fights, I could’ve earned some money.

“But I won the Ultimate Fighter and at one point I had the most fights and most wins in UFC history. I’m in the Hall of Fame, the first British champion and I defended the belt. What more is there to do?”
