Henry Cavill’s Superman has starred in three DC Extended Universe movies over the last decade, all directed by Zack Snyder. From Man of Steel and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice to Justice League. However, since the financial and critical disappoint of the last two outings, it looked like Cavill had all but hung up his cape.

Nevertheless, the DCEU continues with franchises like Wonder Woman and Aquaman having had successful solo outings.

So fans have always wondered if Cavill’s version of Superman will return again; maybe even for Man of Steel 2.

Well now Deadline are reporting that the 37-year-old star is in talks to reprise his Superman in the DCEU.

However, the outlet clarified: “We hear Cavill could come back in a couple of different ways, not a standalone film, but there are plans to put him back in the big red cape again sources with knowledge tell us.”

Justice League was met with poor box office and reviews and ever since has seen a fan movement led by the Twitter hashtag #ReleaseTheSnyderCut for the original director’s vision to manifest.

And now he’s getting just that with Zack Snyder’s Justice League set to hit Warner Bros streaming service HBO Max in 2021.

Much of the original post-production team are being brought back with a budget of $20-30 million expected to complete the project.

They’ll add and finish unused visual effects and stars like Cavill and Jason Momoa could well be brought in to provide additional dialogue.

The result will be a four-hour director’s cut or a six-chapter miniseries for HBO Max.

Snyder teased to The Hollywood Reporter: “It will be an entirely new thing.

“A new experience apart from that movie.”
