Where’s M&M?

See what I did there? Matteo and Mesut? M&M? Fine. Doesn’t really work.

Obviously there’s no sign of Mesut Ozil or Matteo Guendouzi in Arsenal’s match day squad.

And asked about the situation, manager Mikel Arteta wanted to divulge as little as possible. He did it quite successfully I might add.

Asked about their absences, Arteta said: “The situation hasn’t changed.”

Then quizzed what the situation actually was, Arteta replied: “The same as it was last week.”

Thanks, Mikel.

Hey… I heard a rumour

Nobody has a clue how this transfer window is going to play out given the financial impacts of the coronavirus.

But that hasn’t stopped French publication Le10Sport from delivering their daily dose of speculation.

And apparently… Arsenal are in for Lyon star Memphis Depay.

They will, however, only make an approach IF either Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang or Alexandre Lacazette leave the club.

What d’ya reckon folks? Perhaps Depay instead of Laca? Let me know through the usual channels.

The other guys…

Great film that. Anyway, here are the line ups for the other two 6pm KO’s.

Everton vs Leicester

Everton XI: Pickford, Coleman, Holgate, Keane, Digne, Gomes, Gordon, Sigurdsson, Richarlison, Calvert-Lewin, Iwobi.

Leicester XI: Schmeichel, Justin, Soyuncu, Evans, Chilwell, Ndidi, Praet, Tielemans, Albrighton, Vardy, Barnes.

Bournemouth vs Newcastle

Bournemouth XI: Ramsdale, Kelly, S. Cook, Ake, Smith, Brooks, Billing, Lerma, Danjuma, Solanke, King.

Newcastle XI: Dubravka, Krafth, Fernandez, Lascelles, Manquillo, S. Longstaff, Bentaleb, Shelvey, Saint-Maximin, Gayle, Joelinton.

Bukayo Saka signs

Well… you did it. Arsenal finally did it. Bukayo Saka has finally signed a new contract to keep him at Arsenal.

The versatile winger, 18, was linked with a move to Liverpool as his previous contract was set to expire in the summer of 2021 but he’s now penned a long-term contract with the Gunners.

His reward? Being dropped to the bench.

Strangely, after signing Saka apologised for taking so long.

“I just want to say that I’m sorry it’s taken this long, you know,” Saka told Arsenal Digital. “I’ve seen how much it means to the fans.

“Over this time I’ve seen how passionate they are, how loving they are and it just means everything to me that I can make them happy. I just hope I can continue to do that.”

Twitter reaction

Alex: It’s getting very embarrassing for Arsenal and both Matteo Guendouzi and Mesut Ozil. More needs to be said between the club with the fans because otherwise they are just mugging us right off.

Sam: Looks decent except for David Luiz. Disappointing again not to see Mesut Ozil and Matteo Guendouzi not in squad. Looks like Mikel Arteta not happy with them. Anyways, let’s get that back to back PL wins at our home.

James: I know it’s only Norwich but why do we continually start Shkodran Mustafi, David Luiz and Sead Kolasinac together, am I missing something here?

Y’know what, I didn’t even blink seeing that Mesut Ozil and Matteo Guendouzi weren’t included. Such a regular occurrence these days.

Team news – Norwich

I believe that’s one change for Norwich.

Midfielder Tom Trybull comes in for Timm Klose, who was dismissed against Manchester United during the 2-1 extra-time defeat last Saturday.

Team news – Arsenal

Never change a winning side. Clearly not a mantra Mikel Arteta picked up from Pep Guardiola during his time at Manchester City…

The Gunners made four changes to the side that beat Sheffield United in the FA Cup on Sunday.

Reiss Nelson makes his first Premier League start since December, he’s joined by Hector Bellerin, Dani Ceballos and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in the starting XI.

Ainsley Maitland-Niles, Joe Willock, Nicolas Pepe and Bukayo Saka drop to the bench.

Starting XI

The team sheets have arrived and…. David Luiz starts. Well that’s a surprise. Elsewhere Cedric Soares is among the substitutes.

Arsenal XI: Martinez, Bellerin, Mustafi, Luiz, Kolasinac, Tierney, Xhaka, Ceballos, Aubameyang, Nelson, Lacazette.

Subs: Macey, Sokratis, Maitland-Niles, Holding, Soares, Pepe, Willock, Nketiah, Saka.

Norwich XI: Krul, Aarons, Godfrey, Tettey, Lewis, Rupp, Trybull, McLean, Buendia, Cantwell, Pukki.

Subs: McGovern, Vrancic, Hernandez, Stiepermann, Drmic, Duda, Idah, Thomas, Martin.

What’s on?

Plenty. We have three other fixtures to enjoy this evening starting with Bournemouth vs Newcastle at the Vitality Stadium.

The Toon are eyeing a lucrative 12th-placed finish, while the Cherries are fighting for top-flight survival. Wonder who will be more motivated…

Everton also host Leicester with Brendan Rodgers’ side struggling to fend off the chasing pack.

We finish at the London Stadium where David Moyes desperately needs three points to escape their relegation worries. Completely white Moyes’ hair now? That’s what six months at West Ham will do to a man.

Afternoon…

Hello everyone and welcome to our LIVE coverage of Arsenal vs Norwich from the Emirates Stadium.

It’s been a weird few weeks for Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal. It was all doom and gloom when they suffered back-to-back defeats against Manchester City and Brighton.

There was also the relentless ridicule from rival supporters when comical hero David Luiz was offered a 12 month contract.

But… and whisper it quietly… things are changing.

The Gunners reached the FA Cup semi-finals thanks to a stoppage-time winner against Sheffield United and collected maximum points away to Southampton.

And tonight could represent a golden opportunity to continue their resurgence against Norwich, who sit bottom of the table, six points adrift of safety and only have seven games remaining… it’s looking bleak.

ARSENAL vs NORWICH

Arsenal have a few fitness doubts ahead of this evening’s clash with Norwich.

David Luiz and Mesut Ozil will have late fitness tests due to hamstring and back issues respectively.

Bernd Leno, Lucas Torreira, Gabriel Martinelli and Calum Chambers are all still sidelined, but Cedric Soares is available and could make his debut.

Defender Timm Klose is serving a suspension having been dismissed against Manchester United over the weekend.

Lukas Rupp, Max Aarons and Adam Idah are all being monitored after suffering minor injuries.
