Man Utd chief Ed Woodward has key Jack Grealish transfer concern because of four players | Football | Sport

Manchester United chief Ed Woodward has concerns over the logistics of any potential deal for Jack Grealish because of four players, reports say. The Aston Villa star has been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford having impressed in the Premier League under Dean Smith this season. But the Red Devils may not bring the 24-year-old to the club this transfer window after all.

According to Sky Sports, Woodward can’t see where Grealish can fit into Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Manchester United side.

The 24-year-old is a playmaker who can also operate on the left wing, with his versatility one of his most-appealing traits.

Yet, up top, United have the most-potent front three in the entire Premier League.

Mason Greenwood, Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford have scored over 60 goals combined this season, with the trio shining since the departures of Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez.

And the playmaker position is currently nailed down by Bruno Fernandes, who has been a huge hit at Old Trafford ever since his January move from Sporting Lisbon.

Because of the quartet, Woodward is concerned about going after Grealish this summer.

For Grealish, however, his future at Aston Villa now appears to be in limbo.

Meanwhile, speaking after United’s 2-0 Premier League win over Leicester on Sunday, Gary Neville urged the club to back Solskjaer when it comes to new recruits.

He told Sky Sports: “I think it’s a big day for Ole, it gives him some peace and demonstrates progress.

“They can play a different way now, they were very basic in his first six months.

“With [Mason] Greenwood emerging and [Bruno] Fernandes, they look like they can win games in different ways.

“They need more players in their squad. The last time they finished in the top four was under Jose Mourinho and they spent £170million in that summer and didn’t invest it wisely.

“They need to invest it again but do it properly this time to get nearer to Liverpool and Manchester City.

“They need to improve the first XI. That’s not a detriment to the first XI from today.

“It’s about making sure they get in players who want to play for the club. United have never really done that.

“Ole seems to have brought that back in the past 12 months and it’s working, it’s better.”
