Aston Villa are remaining stubborn over their £80million valuation of Manchester United target – thanks to Manchester City. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is eager to recruit the 24-year-old playmaker but the asking price could prompt Old Trafford officials to look elsewhere.
Villa Park chiefs faced the nightmare prospect of losing Grealish for a cut-price fee if they sunk back to the Championship but an unbeaten run at the end of the season saw the club retain their place in the top flight.
Survival has given Villa confidence over their demands for the England hopeful, who provided eight goals and six assists in 36 league appearances this term.

According to the Sunday Mirror, Villa have been keeping tabs on that transfer development and believe their man is worth double the fee.
Grealish has shown little desire to quit his boyhood club but it is claimed a firm offer from United could prompt a change of stance.
He did, however, cast doubt over his future after the significant win against Arsenal in the penultimate game of the Premier League season.
When asked if he had played his final game at Villa Park, Grealish said: “I’m not too sure at the moment.

“I have one aim and that is to keep this club in the Premier League, where this whole fanbase know we belong.
“That’s all I’m thinking about at the moment and hopefully we can do that on Sunday.”
Grealish scored in Villa’s draw at West Ham on the final day of the campaign which guaranteed the club’s survival in the top flight.
Speaking after the match, Dean Smith was asked what was next for Grealish and the Villa boss joked: “He goes out and gets drunk with me, that’s what happens!”
Smith added: “I have no idea. I’m certainly hopeful. He is contracted for another three years, I think.
“I have said many times before we have billionaire owners. If people want to come and get our best players they will cost an awful lot of money.
“He is an Aston Villa fan and will be immensely proud he scored the goal today which kept us in the Premier League.”
