Tottenham are planning to announce the signings of Gareth Bale and Sergio Reguilon as early as today. The club were putting the finishing touches on both deals ahead of Thursday’s Europa League qualifier against Lokomotiv Plovdiv, which Spurs won 2-1.

Spurs entered talks with Real Madrid over Sergio Reguilon at the start of the week and it was there that Daniel Levy launched an auditions enquiry about the availability of former star Bale.

To his surprise, he was told that a deal was indeed possible and that Real Madrid were prepared to cover 50 percent of his wages.

From that point, all parties have been locked in talks in a bid to bring the Welshman back to north London and there has been huge progress.

According to Football.London’s Tottenham correspondent Alasdair Gold, the club are planning to announce both deals on Friday.

He tweeted: “I understand Spurs hope to announce deals for both Gareth Bale and Sergio Reguilon tomorrow. Both players have had their MRI checks and completed most of their medicals in Spain. On the loan deal for Bale, it’s closer to a 60/40 split on his wages with Spurs picking up the 40.”

Bale was pictured arriving at the Real Madrid training ground on Thursday morning by Spanish cameras. The 31-year-old has been at the club’s Valdebebas complex several times this week including Wednesday, when he left after just 20 minutes.

On Tuesday night he drove home 27 minutes into Real Madrid’s 6-0 friendly win over Getafe behind closed doors.

His move back to Tottenham now just looks a matter of when, not if as he awaits the green light to fly to England to complete his move.

The deal is set to cost just under £20million in total with Spurs set to pay Bale around £240,000-a-week. Real Madrid will then cover the remaining £360,000.

Manchester United were never in the running to sign Bale this summer and he has been set on a return to Spurs ever since he heard there was a chance it could happen.

The Red Devils did hold talks over Reguilon though but they were reluctant to incldue the two clauses proposed by Real Madrid during negotiations.

Los Blancos wanted a buyback clause included for the first two years of his new contract worth £37million. It means they will have to pay an additional £10m to the £27m fee they will receive from Tottenham should they want to bring him back to the Bernabeu.

Furthermore, they will also have the chance to match any offer presented by any other clubs.
