Arsenal return to the Emirates for their first competitive match since winning the FA Cup and Community Shield to take on West Ham this evening, hoping to seal a second successive Premier League victory after beating Fulham last weekend. Express Sport brings you updates from the Emirates.

MATCH PREVIEW

Going into the second weekend of matches top of the league, Arsenal are heavily fancied to add another three points to their tally in their second straight London derby.

West Ham slumped to a 2-0 loss at home to Newcastle last weekend and despite bouncing back to beat troubled Charlton in midweek in the Carabao Cup, the vibes are not too positive around the London Stadium.

Arsenal, by contrast, are full of confidence as they showed in a routine 3-0 defeat of Fulham with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang once again on the scoresheet.

The striker has since signed a new three-year deal with the Gunners and will look to mark his bumper new contract with more goals tonight.

“It’s a joy to work with him,” Arteta told journalists on Friday. “I think we have a very transparent relationship, we were very clear with each other with what we were trying to do.

“How big a part of my plans for now and for the future. The way he trains, the way he behaves himself and the way he performs is exactly what I want.

“So, I want him to do that again, consistently in the next few years. It took a lot of work and a big effort as well from the club.

“So thank you very much for supporting us because it was key to achieving it. It was a thing that was worrying because it’s so hard to find a replace of a striker of that calibre so I’m really pleased.”

While West Ham boss Moyes said of his team:They are in good spirits. We have a tough game ahead of us but we know we can play much better than we did last week.

“The game is a real challenge but we are in good spirits.”

He added of Arsenal: “If you win two trophies in six weeks then if you’re not high on confidence after that then I don’t know if you’ll ever be.

“Mikel has done a brilliant job in a short space of time. We have to give him a lot of credit but my job is to go there to make sure we make it hard, don’t give them an easy ride and try to pick up a win.

“We played well against them at the end of the season, we showed form, energy and commitment, all the buzzwords you need to get a result.

“We have to try to be pushing teams all the way. We did show things at Anfield, Old Trafford, here against Chelsea – we will take every game as it comes.”
