01.15am: Lennox Lewis speaks out
Legendary heavyweight Lennox Lewis has delivered his verdict and explained how he first met Tyson.
When discussing the first time he heard about Tyson’s return, he said: “I thought what is Roy Jones doing in the heavyweights? He’s not a heavyweight!
“I thought it would be a good matchup because you’ve got two old pros who were great in their time and are great now.”
He went on to detail the first time he met Tyson, when both were amateurs.
Lewis added: “In the amateurs I went to the world championships in 1983 and the American team said I wasn’t the best, there’s a guy in America who doesn’t like taking planes – but he’s the best.
“I elected to go and see him, and it was Mike Tyson! That was where we met for the first time.”
What are the rules for Mike Tyson vs Roy Jones Jr?
Earlier this week there was confusion about what the rules would actually be for the exhibition fight.
There can be a knockout and a winner will be confirmed, insist Triller, the US broadcaster for the bout.
