Arsenal transfer news: Gunners get Manor Solomon green light as Edu in Pini Zahavi talks | Football | Sport

Arsenal have been given the thumbs up to make a move for Shakhtar Donetsk attacker Manor Solomon because the Israel international is very interested in a move to the Emirates, according to reports.

The 21-year-old winger has been shortlisted as a target by Arsenal and has five goals and one assist in 17 games for Ukrainian champions Shakhtar this season.

Solomon scored in both of Shakhtar’s home and away Champions League group stage victories over Real Madrid and is just one shy of the tally he managed in all of last season, when he netted six times in 29 games.

Arsenal have been monitoring the young forward and it had been claimed earlier this week that talks had been held with the player’s camp after extensive scouting.

Solomon is capable of playing in all three positions across the front three and football.london say the player would be excited by a prospective switch to north London.

A family member is said to have told them that Solomon would be “delighted” to link up with Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal, even though they are unlikely to be in the Champions League next season.

It is warned that there is “still a long way to go” before the move becomes a reality but Arsenal technical director Edu is in talks with Pini Zahavi, it is claimed.

Solomon’s compatriot Zahavi has played a role in multiple big deals done under Arteta, helping the Gunners to broker the arrivals of Willian, Cedric Soares and David Luiz.

The forward has previously been offered to Arsenal back in May of last year when Spanish chief Raul Sanllehi oversaw the team’s recruitment.

Sanllehi dismissed Solomon but he has been watched since and his performances for Shakhtar and Israel have piqued the interest of Arsenal.

Solomon is said to be using 77-year-old super-agent Zahavi to help try and force through a summer move to the Premier League in the summer, although he is represented by Israeli agents Shlomy Ben Ezra and Gilad Katsav.

“We are assessing the situation with the three positions on the goalkeeping area and we will find a different solution, probably in this window,” the Spanish manager said.

On Runarsson, Arteta added: “There is nothing there yet. We are assessing what is going to happen with the three positions.

“The discussion we had in the summer within the club are a little bit different to what actually happened because of the transfer window and the situation that developed with Emi [Martinez].

“We didn’t have much time to do what we really wanted to do and we decided to assess the situation in this window which is what we are trying to do and we will make a decision on how we want to move forward in those three positions.”
