Real Madrid and Inter Milan interested in Man Utd midfielder Donny van de Beek | Football | Sport

Manchester United star Donny van de Beek has attracted attention from Real Madrid and Inter Milan in this transfer window. The Dutchman was signed in the summer from Ajax but has failed to settle under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer this season.

Real Madrid and Inter Milan have taken an interest in signing Van de Beek after failing to make an impact this season.

The Red Devils coach made the midfielder his first arrival of the summer when he joined from Ajax for a fee of around £40m in the transfer window.

At the time, some questioned the move, considering the already strong options in the middle of the park, including Bruno Fernandes, Fred and Paul Pogba.

And Van de Beek has struggled to make an impact at Old Trafford, as a result, starting just twice in the Premier League.

It has led to talk that the Netherlands international could depart the club despite arriving just months ago.

But the 23-year-old is determined to not give up his Red Devils dream and has been assured of game-time by Solskjaer.

That is according to Dutch football expert Marcel van der Kraan, who was speaking on the Transfer Talk show.

He also noted how Real Madrid and Inter Milan are keen on snapping the midfielder up.

He said: “I think he went there with bigger hopes. His agent and the player were very proud the deal was done, and everyone at Ajax thought they’d produced another gem.

“But being a big star in Holland does not guarantee you a place in the biggest team in the world.

“Everyone is criticising him for his step now; Marco van Basten has said he can’t believe Donny has gone there.

“But we have been assured by the player, and the agent, that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has set out a plan for him.

“They want him to get used to the Premier League, and though he is not getting many minutes yet, he will get it. He has been promised.

“For this reason, he is not interested in any options abroad.

“We know Inter Milan are keen, we know Real Madrid are considering bringing him to the Bernabeu again if there is an option, but the player is not interested and really wants to have a go at a successful career at Old Trafford.

“He is convinced his time will come, and he is happy, and isn’t giving an indication behind the scenes that he is not happy.

“Donny feels he has to prove himself in training, and he is up against the best in the world in Pogba and Fernandes. He knows he has to step it up.

“We know he can do it, he has that ability, that scoring ratio in him. So he is quite happy. Let’s not forget: Van de Beek made this choice to move after several great conversations with Solskjaer. He knew what he was doing.”
