Alisson’s father, Jose Becker, died after drowning in a lake near his holiday home in Brazil, local police say. The 57-year-old is said to have been swimming at a dam near his property in the afternoon on Wednesday.

But he was reported missing at 5pm local time after he failed to return home.

The Fire Department of Cacapava do Sul in Brazil were asked to assist in the help to search for Jose Becker.

And his body was discovered at midnight, with authoritis telling ESPN Brazil that no foul play was suspected.

Brazilian club Internacional, where Alisson started his football career, tweeted their condolences to the goalkeeper and his brother, Muriel.

“It is with great sadness that we received the news of Jose Agostinho Becker’s death, the father of our ex-goalkeepers Alisson and Muriel,” the club said.
