The All England Club are desperate to make sure Roger Federer is able to compete at this year’s Wimbledon and an agreement is reportedly close to being made on ensuring the 20-time Grand Slam champion – and other top tennis stars – will not miss out. The 2021 tennis calendar is approaching an extremely busy period with just a few weeks separating the French Open and Wimbledon.
The Australian Open was struck with a number of issues amidst the coronavirus pandemic.
The tournament was forced to be postponed by three weeks with players having to quarantine in hotels.
Event organisers received backlash from many players who were unhappy with the way things were handled.
And it’s clear that Wimbledon officials are hoping to avoid a similar scenario this summer.
