Man Utd transfer news: Edinson Cavani on four-player list after Marcus Rashford injury | Football | Sport

Manchester United have Edinson Cavani on a list of four transfer targets following Marcus Rashford’s injury, according to reports. The PSG hitman is determined to leave the Parc des Princes for a new challenge having fallen behind Neymar, Kylian Mbappe and Mauro Icardi in Thomas Tuchel’s pecking order this season.
Manchester United held talks with Cavani about a move to Old Trafford in 2014 but, on that occasion, ended up going for Radamel Falcao instead.
However, with Rashford now set to miss the next three months through injury, the PSG hitman is now in their sights.
According to Bleacher Report, United have the Uruguay international on a list of four possible targets for the January transfer window.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is eager to land a new forward this month to replace Rashford, who has hit 19 goals across all competitions so far.
And Cavani, given how he wants to leave PSG and how he has just six months left on his current contract, appears to be in their sights.
When it comes to goals, the 32-year-old is right up there with the very best.

And Borussia Dortmund’s Paco Alcacer is another player on United’s list.
The club’s board have reportedly been drawing up a list of transfer targets since Thursday, when Rashford hobbled out of their 1-0 FA Cup win over Wolves.
And Solskjaer, speaking ahead of tonight’s Premier League showdown with Burnley at Old Trafford, has spoken out on the England international.
“Marcus is going to get as long as he needs to get fit,” Solskjær said.
“I have got the best medical staff in the country and I am sure when Marcus comes back he will be 100%.”
The United manager also defended his treatment of the 22-year-old, adding: “I never put myself before the team.
With Marcus, he’s had minor discomfort in his back since the Burnley game [on 28 December]. We’ve had scans, we’ve monitored him. There’s not been any injury there.
“He’s had complaints, yes. I had a discussion and conversation with him the day before or two days before [Wolves last week].
“I said: ‘FA Cup, I’m going to rest you.’ He felt fine. He was very adamant that if needed he could do half an hour because we want to go through in the Cup because it’s a big tournament for us.
“That shows you Marcus’s attitude. That was the second day after we played Norwich.
“He had an extra day of treatment and recovery because we wanted to give him all the chance to be ready for the coming games. He had no complaints training the day before the game. He looked very free and when I asked him if it was OK to be on the bench, [the response was] no problem.”
