Man Utd transfer news: Jadon Sancho fee could be a bargain because of Van de Beek | Football | Sport

Manchester United are closing in on the signing of Jadon Sancho after agreeing a £78m fee with Borussia Dortmund for the England international. And Donny van de Beek has proved useful by making the ex-Manchester City starlet’s price look a bargain, says Paul Ince.

United are in the process of signing Sancho from Dortmund for a fee mooted around the £73m region.

It will be a huge sigh of relief when the deal is done for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who has been desperate to land the England international since last summer.

On that occasion, the Red Devils failed to bring in the winger and signed Van de Beek from Ajax instead.

But it has been a tough season for the Dutchman, who joined for a fee of around £40m.

However, ex-United star Ince reckons that Sancho looks cheap compared to the midfielder after speaking to the Mirror.

“People might suggest he’ll feel added pressure at United because of his price tag, but I don’t agree,” he said.

“He doesn’t decide how much he costs, so it won’t affect him mentally.

“Look at how much United spent on Donny van de Beek and Fred.

“Getting Sancho for £73million could be a bargain. If he performs the way he’s capable of performing, they can always sell him on for double!”

Some believe it might be difficult for the 21-year-old to adapt to the Premier League after spending his entire professional career in the Bundesliga.

But Ince believes Sancho is ready to make an immediate impact because of Euro 2020.

“It’s easier to hit the ground running when you’ve been playing in a summer tournament,” he added.

“It’s harder to stop at the end of May, with two or three months before a season starts.

“The fact he’s now playing games for England, and playing well, means everything just rolls into one. By the time the Euros finish it will almost be straight into pre-season.

“As a young player, he’ll learn by playing with the best players and taking things on board. That’s what the experienced players are there for, they’ll show him how to improve. Nobody should expect him to be the finished article, he’s a young kid who is learning his trade.”
