Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has provided supporters with a promising update on Paul Pogba‘s future. The Frenchman has been widely tipped to leave United this summer, with Paris Saint-Germain said to be pondering a move him.
Earlier this week, reports suggested Pogba had rejected a new contract worth £350,000-a-week and a summer departure seemed likely.
United will reportedly sell the 28-year-old if his £50million valuation is met as he enters the final 12 months of his current deal.
The Red Devils will be desperate to avoid losing him on a free transfer for a second time, but that possibility is growing likelier by the week.
PSG are reportedly interested in signing him this summer, though, although the Ligue 1 giants are yet to make a formal approach.
Following United’s 4-2 pre-season friendly defeat at Queen’s Park Rangers on Saturday, Solskjaer was asked about Pogba’s future.
Solskjaer will be eager to keep Pogba at the club as talks continue over his new contract.
However, if the France international demands more than £350,000 a week, the pressure for him to repay his £89m price tag will only grow.
It would also raise eyebrows about Solskjaer’s star man, Bruno Fernandes, and how much he will earn as contract talks continue.
The Portuguese ace is expected to extend terms at Old Trafford, but he will undoubtedly, and deservedly, want a similar if not higher wage than Pogba.

Solskjaer could, of course, have applied his poker face in the post-match press conference, and Pogba could be on the verge of leaving United.
If PSG submit a reasonable offer and the midfielder makes his intentions clear, a transfer must be considered likely.
Pogba’s future must be solved quickly, as he’s a player that would have to be replaced correctly if he does depart with less than three weeks to go until the 2021/22 season starts.
It’s bound to be a very interesting few weeks as far as Pogba and where he will play his football this season is concerned.
