Lewis Hamilton gives fresh health update as he reacts to Sebastian Vettel disqualification | F1 | Sport

Lewis Hamilton has provided a health update following a bout of blurred vision and dizziness after the Hungarian Grand Prix. The Brit claimed second place on a turbulent afternoon in Budapest, after Sebastian Vettel was disqualified for failing to comply with post-race fuel regulations.
All told, Hamilton did well to battle back to the podium after yet another dramatic start in Hungary.
In wet conditions, Valtteri Bottas’ late breaking into turn one caused a chain reaction of events, with multiple cars taking damage and the race temporarily suspended by a red flag.
As the debris was cleared and the sun began to dry out the track, Hamilton was the only driver not to pit before the race restart, leading to a bizarre scene.
The seven-time world champion lined up alone on the grid, with every other driver in the pits for a strategic tyre change as the race got back underway.

Hamilton immediately recognised his error and pitted on the next lap to take off his wet rubbers, but Mercedes’ delay in changing tyres caused him to drop to the back of the field.
On one of the narrowest tracks on the F1 calendar, the Mercedes man methodically worked his way forwards on a tough afternoon, claiming third before promptly being corrected to second after Vettel’s disqualification.
Alpine’s Esteban Ocon claimed a shock win, leading from the front and holding off Vettel’s challenge after the chaotic start.
On that subject, and indeed his health after a podium scare, Hamilton said via Instagram: “Congratulations to the Alpine team and to Esteban Ocon for their first win – he’s been a real star and it’s been so exciting to watch.
“Tough outcome for Seb, but he really put the effort in.
“I fought my heart out, we gave it everything, and all things considered, feel pretty good about P2 in Hungary.
“To everyone who checked in, thank you. I’m just fine — ready for some rest.”
Hamilton claims he is still feeling the after-effects of his battle with COVID-19 which he contracted in December last year.
In the post-race press conference, he complained of dizziness and blurred vision on the podium before consulting the team doctor.
Although it was a tough afternoon for the Brit, Vettel will be the one with a sour taste left in his mouth after initially battling to a sensational second place for Aston Martin.
Painfully, the German failed to provide the required 1 litre fuel sample after the race, with only 0.3L remaining in the car, wiping his points and moving his former rival up to second.
With the summer shutdown to follow, Hamilton can rest and recuperate from his ongoing illness issues with plenty of time to prepare for Belgium at the end of the month.
