Tottenham transfer news: Spurs ‘saw £30m offer rejected’ for Adama Traore in last-gasp bid | Football | Sport

Tottenham submitted a late bid of £30million in an attempt to land Adama Traore ahead of Tuesday’s transfer deadline, but their offer was flatly rejected by Wolves, according to reports. Spurs have been heavily linked with a move for Traore since Nuno Espirito Santo was appointed as the club’s new boss earlier this summer.

The 25-year-old excelled under the Spurs manager’s guidance at Molineux and was reportedly earmarked as a target by the club’s director of football Fabio Paratici.

However, the possibility of a move is now dead in the water, with Traore set to remain at Wolves until at least January.

Spurs tabled a £30m bid for the Spaniard on Monday, but their proposal was swiftly knocked back by the west Midlands outfit, according to The Athletic.

It is claimed that Wolves were determined to hold out for at least £50m in order to part ways with Traore, who has started every Premier League match for Bruno Lage’s side this season.

The imposing forward is now set to miss out on a reunion with Nuno, with Spurs failing to submit an improved offer.

The north London club have signed five players this summer, with full-back Emerson Royal becoming their final addition of the window on Tuesday evening.

The 22-year-old signed a five-year deal at Spurs after Barcelona accepted a fee of around £25.8m for his services.

He joined Bryan Gil, Pierluigi Gollini and Cristian Romero in sealing a move to the capital before the all-important deadline.

Pape Matar Sarr was also poached by Spurs from Metz earlier in the window, but the 18-year-old will stay there on loan until the end of this season.

DON’T MISS

Tottenham’s final act of the transfer window was to terminate the contract of defender Serge Aurier, who was initially tied down until the end of the season.

The Frenchman has been vocal in his desire to seek a new challenge after four years at the club and openly admitted that a return to Paris Saint-Germain would be his preference back in May.

“Everyone knows that if I wanted to extend my contract at Tottenham, I’d have already done so,” Aurier told L’Equipe.

I’m not going to do that in six months’ time. I’ve experienced the Premier League and a Champions League final. I’ve reached the end of a cycle and it’s time to look elsewhere.”

“Both parties, the board and my agents are in agreement in terms of the conditions, so we will see.

“I’ve never hidden my desire to go back to PSG one day. It’s my boyhood club and I’m still a PSG supporter, so I feel free to talk about it.

“But I don’t want people to think I’m just issuing a come-and-get-me plea and I’m not closing the door on anyone.

If the club does make an offer this summer, PSG will certainly be among my top choices.”
