Elizabeth Taylor net worth: Who inherited the iconic star’s £500million fortune?

[ad_1]

Elizabeth Taylor entered the spotlight at just aged 12, when her role in National Velvet shot her to fame. The fashion icon was one of the most famous stars in the 1950s and had one of the most recognisable faces of her time. When she died in 2011, it was thought that she had a net worth of £500million, but who inherited it?

The majority of her collection was sold, including a brooch which fetched over £6million during a sale of her jewellery in 2011.

It was a special piece which Elizabeth wore on one of her wedding days.

Known for her expensive taste in jewels, she also had a Le Peregrina natural pearl necklace.

The piece broke the world record for the most expensive pearl ever sold at auction, selling for a huge £10million.

One of her grandchildren, Quinn Tivey, is a trustee of Elizabeth’s estate and foundation, collectively known as the House of Taylor.

In 2019, a collection of the star’s film costumes and accessories went on auction over a three-day event.

Speaking about the event, Quinn said: “We’ve been building a private archive over the last few years…along the way, we’ve come across items that seem perfect for a sale.”

Known for her charity work, Elizabeth was a leader in AIDS activism, including her founding role in the American Foundation for AIDS Research.

It is thought that some of the actress’ wealth was left to her charity, whose headquarters are in New York.

Elizabeth Taylor: A Fierce Love airs tonight on Channel 5 and 9pm.
