Anthony Joshua has back-up plan if Deontay Wilder or Tyson Fury fight plot falls through | Boxing | Sport

Joshua, along with Wilder and Fury, are being framed as the three men battling it out to become the first undisputed heavyweight champion of the world since Lennox Lewis.
However, Usyk could be the joker in the pack, there’s parallels with him and a certain Evander Holyfield who moved up from cruiserweight in 1988 to eventually become a heavyweight boing icon.
That status is just around the corner for the current challengers, and in 2020 we could see a unique piece of heavyweight history wrote into the boxing annals forever.
Joshua spoke of this in January.
“We had a meeting about that. It has great potential. I heard [Wilder and Fury] have a third fight lined up towards the end of the year but we have to throw a curveball in there,” AJ said.
“Something that gets Wilder’s attention providing he wins so that he thinks to himself: ‘Even though I have a rematch clause, I’ll see how I can manipulate my contract, get out of it, and fight for the undisputed championship’.”
