Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba may choose to stay at Old Trafford after seeing a player of Bruno Fernandes’ calibre join the club in January, reckons former Tottenham midfielder Tim Sherwood. It is expected Pogba will look to force a move out of United this summer. The Frenchman has continuously been linked with a move to Real Madrid or a return to Juventus.

But Sherwood reckons Pogba may change his mind and choose to stay because of Fernandes’ arrival.

Fernandes joined for £46.6million and plays in a similar role to Pogba in midfield.

But Sherwood says it would be great for United to have both players from next season onwards.

“It would be brilliant if you keep them both wouldn’t it?” Sherwood said on The Weekend Review.

“This boy [Fernandes] is a reference, they’re looking for him, they’ve trained with him for three days, they know he can play.

“He’s got that aura about him, he’s 10 stone wet through but it doesn’t matter.

“He knows how to receive the ball, he’s brave, ‘Give me the ball’, he’s making them play so that when you get it you’re looking for me.

“He is the reference and he will be a player. Really, really encouraged for Man United fans seeing him play.”
