Horse racing tips today: Who to back at Lingfield, Southwell, Doncaster, Newbury and Kelso | Racing | Sport

BOLDMERE (3.35, treble), destined for victory before falling at the last fence on his recent run, can make amends by capturing the 888Sport Grimthorpe Chase at Doncaster.

This progressive novice had comfortably won his two previous races before coming down at the final fence at Wetherby where he presented victory to the smart Newtide.

The handicapper believed the gelding had something in hand before falling as the gelding now runs off a 5lb higher mark.

Definitly Red and Childswell, both past winners of the contest, have to be respected but they are not getting any younger.

The former French-trained Saint Xavier, now under the care of Paul Nicholls, looks the bigger danger, if repeating his running that enabled him to win a Grade 3 event at Auteuil in 2018.

LIOSDUIN BHEARA (1.50) has proven stamina and is on a winnable handicap mark in the opener.

Bridget Andrews can take advantage of her husband, Harry Skelton, opting to ride at Newbury when she teams up with DESTRIER (2.25).

He is now 4lb better off with Dolos, the second home, when third behind Janika at Exeter in November.

Nicholls has the answer with the hat-trick seeking CILL ANNA (3.00) in the Mares’ Hurdle.

At Newbury the frustrating Nicholls-trained MASTER TOMMYTUCKER (4.25, nap) can show the benefit of a different jockey and course by taking the novice chase.

The gelding has fallen on his last two outings at Kempton when partnered by Harry Cobden.

Today Bryony Frost takes the reins and Newbury’s galloping track will be more suitable.

Earlier on the card JOE FARRELL (2.05) can land his first success since winning the 2018 Scottish Grand National.

He will relish this stamina test and has run well at the track in the past.

The handicapper has given BAGS GROOVE (3.15) a winning chance on his return to action. He comfortably beat Secret Investor at Wincanton in 2018 and is now 4lb better off.

Impressive Exeter winner RED ROOKIE (5.00, nb) can defy a penalty in the bumper.

CHEDDLETON (2.45) can continue his upward curve by making it a third victory over hurdles at Kelso.

He had something up his sleeve when beating Jabbaar at the track last month.
